Redefining Love in a Broken World

1/6/2019 - 2/3/2019

Jesus tells us to be great at two things: loving God and loving others. In a world that's confused as to what love means and looks like, we want our church to be great at Jesus' commands.

In this series, we'll define love and look at how to show it in a broken world.

What is Love?

Our culture is really confused by the word LOVE. Partially because we use the word love interchangably and on different occassions. For example, we'll say that we 'love' our spouse or our kids. But then, we'll also use the word love to describe other things. We'll say things like, I 'love' that new show on Netflix, or I 'love' pizza, or I 'love' the NY Mets. But when Jesus summed up the entire law with two commandments, he said that we should love our neighbor as ourselves, but also to love God with our heart, mind, soul and strength. In other words, we start by loving God and His love in us motivates us to show love to others. In this insightful message, you’ll discover how to grow and deepen our walk with God in 2019. Because there’s not one person who doesn’t want to better connect with God and hear Him speak in our lives.

Since the start of the church, Christians have gathered together for discipleship, fellowship, worship, evangelism and ministry. God created us to be in relationships with Him and with others. For the most part, relationships are the biggest influencer in people's spiritual growth. Fellowship with other believers is part of God's plan for discipleship. In this insightful message, you'll discover Biblical reasons for you to join a Growth Group and find encouragement, grow spiritually and possibly become a spiritual mentor in the lives of the people in your group.

This principle is not only taught by Jesus…but you see it over and over again throughout the Bible. It’s the key to living a GREAT life! Maybe you’re here today and you feel like your walk with God has become stale – you don’t feel alive in your faith anymore or that God is speaking to you… Maybe you’re here today and you struggle with this idea of significance – you’ve got everything anyone could want – a spouse, kids, good job, a roof over your head – but you still feel like something is missing…If that’s you, what if Jesus is right by saying that significance comes from serving others? What if there’s more to this Greatness Principle than you think? In this powerful message, you’ll be challenged to go all in for His Greatness Principle and experience the abundant life God has promised you.

When someone hurts you, it’s painful. How do you let go of that hurt? How do you show love to that person? And how do you find the courage to forgive? In this powerful message we’ll discuss one of the most difficult, but most needed aspects of love – how to extend it to those who’ve hurt us through forgiveness. Forgiveness is a choice, not an emotion – a choice and you can choose to let go of the past hurt so you can experience the future God has for you.

Seventy percent of the people in the world don’t know Jesus. That amounts to 5.3 billion people! The majority of people go thru life not knowing God loves them - not knowing God has a plan for their lives, not knowing Jesus died on the cross so they can have eternal life. There are people in your life who are hungry for spiritual truth. They may not know what that emptiness is in their life is. But it’s there. They may call it loneliness, they may call it boredom, they may call it fear, guilt, worry, depression. But the real truth is…they need God. In this powerful message, you’ll learn some life-changing principles on how we can make an impact by bringing the people around us to Jesus so they can experience the love and joy He brings into our lives.
